Internal Medicine
Adult medicine, with your whole health in view
Prevention, diagnosis and treatment of adult illnesses — and coordination of the care you receive elsewhere.
What is internal medicine?
Internists are physicians trained in the care of adults. They handle everyday health, prevention, and the diagnosis and long-term management of conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease — often several at once.
At San Patricio Internal Medicine & Geriatrics Center, PSC, internal medicine visits are the foundation of your care: a place to review how you are doing, what has changed, and what to do next.
A visit may include
- A review of your medical history, symptoms and medications
- A physical examination
- Preventive care and screening appropriate for your age
- Follow-up of ongoing conditions such as diabetes and hypertension
- Coordination with specialists and review of outside results
- Time for your questions — and those of the family member who comes with you
Bring to every visit: a list of everything you take (including vitamins and over-the-counter products), your insurance card and photo ID, and any recent test results or hospital papers.
