Caregivers & Family

Caring for someone? You are part of the team

Family members and caregivers are welcome at visits. With the patient’s consent, they can also take part in VHealth.

At the office

Please come to visits when you can. It helps to bring the medication list, note the changes you have seen, and write down questions in advance. Dr. Báez-Franceschi will speak with the patient first and involve you as the patient wishes.

In VHealth — always with the patient’s consent

01

The patient decides

Access to health information in VHealth is granted by the patient, from their own VHealth account, and can be limited or withdrawn at any time.

02

Family health sharing

A patient can share selected categories — such as appointments, medications or vitals — with a family member who has a VNet account, for a set period.

03

Trusted guardian

A patient can designate a trusted guardian in VHealth. Guardians request access, the patient approves or denies, and every access is recorded.

04

Everything is logged

VHealth keeps a record of who accessed what and when, and the patient can review it.

Questions

How do I get access?

Ask the patient. They can share with you from VHealth’s Sharing settings, or add you as a guardian. You will need your own VNet account; the office can help with that.

Can I make appointments for my family member?

Call the office. For an existing patient, the office will confirm the patient’s wishes and schedule the visit.

What if the patient cannot manage their own account?

Talk to the office. Arrangements depend on the patient’s situation and on the legal authority you hold.
